The Business of Storytelling

Storytelling is the most powerful indirect form of communication. Stories illustrate a point, reveal vulnerabilities, teach lessons, motivate, help earn trust, and tap into the emotional part of the brain that is essential for persuasion.

This 2-hour virtual workshop enables participants to become better communicators by developing their storytelling skills. The class is highly interactive and fun, with a mix of analyzing video examples, learning core story principles, crafting their own stories, and delivering stories in small groups for feedback. Most importantly, participants will brainstorm how they can apply storytelling to their specific role—whether it be for a presentation, a meeting, or a training.

  • When to use stories in business
  • The five elements of a great story
  • Story development and feedback in small groups
  • Tips for delivering stories with impact
  • Personal reflection on how to use stories more in business


Class size: 12 or less

Format: 2 hour workshop; with 30 minute 1:1 follow up coaching sessions in the days after the workshop

Pre-work: Come to the workshop with an idea of a 2-minute story (topic prompts will be provided in the pre-work email), ready to revise and share.
